Achievements and Awards

This page shows all of Sherburne County Robotics Teams’ achievements, advancements and awards in current and past seasons. The JP2 Fireworks 2.0 will be working on the Cat and the Hat Comes Back achievements and awards as the team has moved to a new website.

FLL: Masterpiece 2023-24

State

At regionals, the JP2 Fireworks 2.0 won Champions which got them a trip to the state tournament. They had the highest robot score.

At State, they had the highest robot score and won head to heads. They got three callbacks: Robot design, Champions, and Programming. They were blessed to have gotten 1rst place which means they will be representing themselves as the 1rst place team in Minnesota at the world tournament in April in Houston, Texas.

FLL: 2022-2023 Super Powered Season

At Regionals, The JP2 Fireworks 2.0 won 1rst place Champions in their division. They won the robot performance award.

At State, they won 2nd place for innovation project. They got three callbacks: Champions, Project, and Project Presentation.

FLL: Cargo Connect 2021-22

FTC: Freight Frenzy 2021-22

At Regionals, the JP2 Fireworks won the highest robot performance score in their division and won Champions which brought them to State. At State, they won the engineering excellence award.

At the first qualifying tournament, The Cat in The Hat Comes Back won 3rd place Inspire, the Design award, were the 1st place alliance, and 2nd place in qualifying matches, earning them a trip to State. At their second qualifying tournament they won Think, and were in the 1st place alliance. At State, they won ____.

2020-21 – FLL: RePlay & FTC: Ultimate Goal

The JP2 Fireworks competed at Regionals and won Programming and High Robot Score, as well as a trip to the State tournament. At State, they had callbacks for Programming and Design, and won 1st in Design.

At the first qualifying tournament The Cat in The Hat Comes Back won Think, High Robot Score, and 2nd place Inspire, and were finalists for one other award, earning them a trip to State. At their second qualifying tournament they won Stratasys, High Robot Score, and 1st place Inspire. At State, they won Stratasys and 3rd place Robot Score.

2019-20 – FLL: City Shaper & FTC: SkyStone

The JP2 Remix won the Project Award at Regionals as well as 1st in Robot Game and advanced to Sectionals where they won Programming and advanced to State.  At State they got Championship, Robot Design, and Research callbacks, and won 2nd place in Robot Design and 4th place in Head-to-Heads.

The JP2 Fireworks went from Regionals, Sectionals, and the on to State!

Regionals: Won the Robot Design Award. Highest Robot Score In Our Division With a Score of 400.

Sectionals: Won the Core Values Award. Highest Robot Score In Our Division, with a score of 410. Won Head-To-Head With a Score of 480.

State: 4 Callbacks: Programming, Research Quality, Creative Presentation, and Championship. Won 1st Place in Programming and 2nd In Research Quality.

At the Regional

The Shredders competed at Regionals.

At the first qualifying tournament The Cat in The Hat Comes Back won the Design Award, were the captains for one of the Finalist Alliances, and were finalists for three other awards.  At their second qualifying tournament they were finalists for three awards, got second in qualification matches, and won 1st place Inspire, getting them a trip to State.  At State they got six callbacks, were 2nd place in qualifying rounds, were the 1st pick of the winning alliance and won 2nd place Inspire which means they will be heading to the World Championship in Detroit.

2018-19 – FLL: Into Orbit & FTC: Rover Ruckus

The JP2 Legacy won the Programming Award at Regionals, as well as 1st in Robot Game.  At their Sectional tournament, they won the Programming Award, 1st in Head-to-Heads, and 1st place in Robot Game.  At State, they got callbacks for Programming, Creative Presentation, Innovative Design and Strategy, Mechanical Design, and Championship.  They won 1st place in Mechanical Design and 1st overall, earning them a trip to the FIRST World Championship in Detriot.

The JP2 Fireworks won the Programming Award at both Regionals and Sectionals and got the High Robot Score at Sectionals.  At State, they got a Teamwork callback and 4th in Robot Game.

The Bricksters did a great job their first year by winning the Core Values award and advancing to Sectionals!

At the first qualifying tournament The Cat in The Hat Comes Back won the 1st place Inspire Award, the Promote Award, were the first team chosen for the Finalist Alliance, and were finalists for the Rockwell Collins Innovate Award and the MN Stratasys 3-D Printing Award.  At their second qualifying tournament they won the Think Award and the Promote Award and were finalists for the MN Stratasys 3-D Printing Award, the Control Award, and for the PTC Design Award.

At the State Championship they were finalists for the Stratasys 3-D printing award, the Design award, and the Innovate award and ended up winning the 2nd place Inspire award (the award that is given to teams that excel in all aspects of the robot program), and with that award earned a trip to the World Championship in Detroit where they were a Design Award finalist!

2017-18 – FLL: Hydro Dynamics & FTC: Relic Recovery

The JP2 Legacy won the Project and Robot Design Award at Regionals, as well as 1st in Head-to-Head and Robot Game.  At their Sectional tournament, they won the Programming Award.  At State, they got callbacks for Programming, Research, and Championship.  They won 2nd place in programming.

The JP2 Fireworks won Head-to-Head and Core Values at Regionals and moved on to Sectionals, then from Sectionals, they moved onto State.  At State, they got within the top 8 in Head-to-Heads.

Judges Award

The Shredders won a Judges Award at Regionals for their hard work and all-around goodness, and advanced to Sectionals.

The Cat in the Hat Comes Back took first place in qualifying matches, and they were on the first place winning alliance, as well as this, they won the PTC Design award for a great mechanical design of their robot and advanced to state! At their second Qualifying tournament on January 20th, and got 1st place in qualifying matches and was in the winning alliance. They got 4 callbacks, for outreach, robot & design, 3D printing, and programming, and they won the Promote award, Stratasys award, and took 1st place in Inspire. At the Minnesota State tournament, they received many 3D printing callbacks, an outreach callback, and a mechanical design callback.  They were also 6th place in qualifying matches, and were chosen onto the 1st place alliance.  They won their divisions elimination matches, and got the chance to go against the other division’s top alliance as well.  They won a trip to super-regional’s in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where they won more awards and made it to Worlds in Detroit.

2016-17 – FLL: Animal Allies & FTC: Velocity Vortex

The FLL Minions won the Programming Award at their Regional Tournament in Elk River.  They moved on to Sectionals and State where they won 1st in their Division in both Robot Design and Research Quality, as well as winning a Judges Award.

The JP2 Rockslides won the Core Values Award, and got 1st in Head-to-Head at their Regional and Sectional tournaments,  as well as 1st in Robot game at Regionals, in Elk River.  At State, they were 1st in their Division in Research Quality, Innovative Solution, and Robot Design as well as 4th in Head-to-Heads, and 3rd overall champions.  They have advanced to the FLL World Festival in St. Louis, MO where they got 25th out of 108 teams in Robot Game, as well as qualified for all three Core Values awards.

The Jp2 Programmers won the Programming award at their Regional tournament in Elk River, won the Core Values award at the Sectional tournament, and at State, they were 1st place in their division in Robot Design.

The Shredders

The Shredders did great in their second year, where they won the Core Values Award at their Regional Tournament in Elk River.

The Cat in the Hat comes back performed very well at their November regional tournament.  They were the first pick of the third place alliance and were finalists in the PTC award and the Think award. They won the Connect award and took third place for the Inspire award which means a trip to state!  In addition, they submitted a video of their coach and he won.  Their January regional tournament also went well.  They were chosen on the 4th place alliance and won the Rockwell-Collins award and the 3D printing award.  At the State tournament,  they received callbacks for both outreach and 3D printing in judging, and resubmitted the Compass award.

2015-16 – FLL Trash Trek

The FLL Minions won the Project Award at the North Branch Regional tournament, the Core Values award at the Elk River Sectional tournament, and got a callback for Core Values at the State Tournament .

The JP2 Rockslides won the Project Award at their Regional and State tournaments,  and won 4th in Head-to-Head, 1st in Core Values, and 2nd in Project.  They got 6 out of 7 callbacks and placed in the top 7 teams.

The JP2 Programmers won a Judges award this year.

A rookie team, the Shredders, won the Innovative Design and Head-to-Head award.

2014-15 – FLL World Class: Learning Unleashed

The FLL Minions won the Project Award at the Elk River Regional Tournament and took 3rd place.

The JP2 Rockslides won the Programming Award, took first place at the Elk River Regional tournament, and advanced to State  where they took 15th place out of 73 teams there.

The JP2 Programmers won the Core Values Award, took second place at the Elk River Regional tournament, and advanced to State  where they took 54th place out of 73 teams there.

2013-14 FLL Season – Nature’s Fury

The FLL Minions won the Head-to-Head competition at the Elk River Regional Tournament!

In their rookie season, the JP2 Rockslides won the Project Award at the Elk River Regional Tournament and ranked 3rd place overall there.
